I have been renting for many years using their preferred program and have always been satisfied with the cars. Always ready, always on time, and ready to assist. Will rent with Avis again.
My recent experience with Avis at Moline, IL airport is wonderful. I booked a midsize SUV. At the time of pick up, they do not have vehicle of that type. So they had given me a Standard SUV for the same price that we paid. The Car is new and clean and no hidden charges. Also the pick up and drop off hours at Airport is very flexible. The Avis customer care is also very friendly in providing adequate discounts and deals. Over all, I had a good experience with Avis.
Did a weekend trip to Gurnee with my parents and brother and two young nephews, and everyone loved the Full size SUV we had. Had entertainment screens, popped in a movie and kids were satisfied (along with adults). Being the premium class, thought it should maybe have navigation included, but it did not. Which was okay since i was very familiar with route and location. Positively will rent from Avis again.
My experience with Avis Rent A Car at the Moline Il airport was the worst experience ever!!! Leading up to the pick up date I was assured that we would get a ford transit 12 pssgr van with plenty of cargo space because we had more than 10ppl and lots of luggage to travel 10 + hours. Upon arrival and check in the clerk took longer than expected to get us checked in saying she was cancelling my old reservation and I found that odd considering the representative that I spoke with at the 800# when i made changes to the resv had assured me the old one was already cancelled. Once checked in she gave us keys and also demanded a 2nd credit card from my addtnl driver bt gave no real reason why it was necessary. Once we went to the lot we discovered she had changed our vehicle to a smaller 12pssgr vehicle with far less cargo space bt the one we reserved was on the lot. We went back inside and told her and all she wld say is it's in the same class even tho I kept asking for the one we rented. When I asked for the manager she chuckled and said she isn't here on Saturday. I called the airport police to see of anything could be done about the situation and he was worse than the clerk was!! Ultimately we got stuck with the smaller vehicle and was told the ford transit was now on recall! We are in route for 10hrs packed like sardines in this vehicle...i did however rcv a small discount for our trouble thru customer service bt its no compensation for all that we went thru. Avis has lost a customer and I hope people read this review as well as others before renting with them...each rep tells u something different as far as charges and it's just NOT good business....BUYER BEWARE!!!!
I recently rented a car with Avis at the Moline/Quad City airport. This is a small airport so you will need to stop at the Avis counter to pick up your car; even if Avis Preferred. I reserved an intermediate size car and was given a full size 4WD pickup. It is John Deere country, but I didn't need or want that much of a vehicle. I was able to exchange to a smaller full size Hyundai Santa FE SUV. Finding the car was super easy. Returning the car was a little unusual. This airport does not have any returning agents to check in the car upon your return. Simply drive it into the lot and find a place to park it; anywhere. Also, make sure to record and report your ending mileage and if it is less than 75 miles, provide a copy of the fuel receipt to provide proof that you refueled the car or you will be charge an additional $13.99 fuel service charge. Luckily, I was able to get the charge credited back because I had a receipt for my gas. All in all, this was the typical great Avis customer support, but with a few small items that could be improved upon.
